I am thankful for my dear friend, Heather Buffone. We became much better friends after enduring a tormenting project for Biology. Although the stressful project added discord to our friendship, we both wanted the same thing. We each wanted an A. Whether it was the yearning for a good grade, or Heather's deathly stare, we were able to carry on. Through this experience, I learned that Heather was someone I could stay friends with. She's fun to be around, but has always been able to keep me on task despite how severely distracted I may be.

Community Stories
Sojourner Truth believed in Civil Rights for African Americans, and that people who still hold on to the belief that African Americans were still slaves should change. With so much of the population at the time already being African American, it seemed silly that they should be treated any differently. A community that evolves for the better good of it's members is a strong community. Just as a community that has contradicting beliefs is weak, America can't have discrimination against it's own people. Primary documents like Truth's documentation of her experiences with discrimination usually express the feelings and try to present the seriousness of an issue, while a reporter or a short story would try to stray from a bias perspective.
Sixty years ago, Granny Weatherall was jilted by her husband George when he never showed up at the altar to marry her. Granny Weatherall felt that her life was all planned out, and perhaps this was the moment that changed her life. When she was on her death bed, she waited until her final moments for signs of God or an afterlife, but without seeing anything ahead, she felt that she was "jilted" once again. Beforehand, Granny believed that the community had "dissolved". In her eyes, everyone needed her help or advice, and wasn't self sufficient enough. This added on to the fact that she felt so lonely as a result of a difficulty communicating gave her a foul opinion of the community. A changing community can have new or different motives, personalities, members, or methods, that keep it afloat, but a dissolving community is one that one or many feel is losing it's strength or ability to be a community at all.
White began defining New York by what it isn't at the beginning of the story, "Here is New York" to express that he knows the city's flaws. I believe he has already accepted these flaws and wants to end the story on a better note than what he believes isn't as important. White believes that when it comes to diversity, New York has it. Every few blocks is another community, so knowing these neighborhood's would really help someone fit in. In addition, there are all types of stores and services available in a small area, making it easier to get where you need to go with less driving.

Act 3/ All Acts Crucible Post
The Crucible ended with Proctor losing his life in Act III. This was due to him denying a proper confession of witchery so that he can at least have his name. He had gotten into this situation when he confessed his affair with Abigail after he gave into the guilt. After the end of Act III, it was also revealed the fates of the characters. Abigail Williams wasn't particularly able to keep her power, as she ended up becoming a prostitute, while the other characters realized the corruption prevalent in Salem. I still believe the ending was satisfying because Proctor believed he got back into the grace of God, and I cared more about the characters endings rather than the back story of witchery. Along the journey, the Theocratic town expressed its flaws, and allowed the citizens to realize a reform was needed. If Proctor had confessed, he would have put thoughts back into everyone's mind that witchery was still around. This could have caused chaos because it would show that even a well-respected man could fall victim to witchery.

Act II Crucible Post
In Act II, accusations of witchery have made it possible for Abigail Williams to gain immense power in Salem for such a young age. By gaining these new abilities, she realizes how corrupted the town really is and uses it to her advantage. However, this seems to make her overconfident. Corruption has been part of society for centuries, and is usually caused by an abuse of power. In this case, Salem's courts use the logic that one is guilty until proven innocent. This makes it impossible for innocent people who have no way to defend themselves to be seen as innocent except by shifting the blame onto someone else. In addition, anyone can use religion as reason for an accusation. It doesn't make sense to use something like religion, that doesn't rely on proof, to prove an accusation.

1. The plans made by Latin Kings are often under surveillance by authorities, showing how members can be caught and arrested. However, Chicago police won't take any action if the Latin Kings agenda isn't severe and at the top of their priority list. Because loyalty comes first, members can become careless to a point. (1)
2. Most Latin Kings leaders have some sort of criminal background. If a leader is respected enough, the gang will wait for his return from jail for the continuation of his leadership. It's a wonder why an inca would be released back into the world of the Latin Kings with this knowledge. (1)
3. When the Latin Kings was formed, it's goal was to protect the Puerto Rican community, as they were treated unfairly. Many difficult choices had to be made in order to move towards this goal, usually involving actions that weren't necessarily lawful. This was early on in Latin King History, showing the Humboldt park community already developing gang lifestyle. (6)

Being only nine years old, Sanchez was exposed to authoritative figures putting down his nationality with their own. Crucible Response: Act I
In Act 1, readers realize Abigail Williams change of nature. She realizes how easy it is to get rid of people by making accusations of witchery. Unfortunately, she uses it quite to her advantage with the number of people she was ready to shift suspicions to. At this time it may have been a deadly consequence for an innocent person to be killed based on suspicions, however something similar still goes on today. In high school, when someone is jealous or angry at another student, they may start false rumors that could ruin their reputation with friends or even teachers. While this may not be as consequential as Abigail’s times, the motives are the same. If there is a simple way to get rid of someone you don’t like, any morality is disregarded. At least in Abigail's case it is.

Community Song Post

Well, my father told me
"Son, you had better get a gun"
The song brings out the less favorable aspects of Paul’s hometown Chicago. He’s knows where he’s from, however he explains the dangers of his hometown when he sings, “Son, you had better get a gun." Here, he is reenacting his father’s warnings to him that Chicago can be dangerous, and he might want to think about having something to protect himself. The urban Chicago is put in a negative light, as he explains he has experienced the deaths of close ones. By the end of the song, he realizes how much Chicago has changed, however he didn’t particularly explain how it was later in his life.

Community Post
A community is a group of people who work together toward similar goals or interests, while a neighborhood is a relatively smaller residential area. A neighborhood can be a community, because its members can have similar goals or interests, but a community cannot be a neighborhood.
My Communities
I am part of plenty of communities, like the Humboldt Park community. Whatever affects others in the community usually affects me. I would also consider myself part of the Whitney Young school community as I am a student there. However, the most important community I am a part of is my family. Our home has been the setting of our community for as long as I can remember. When everyone shares mutual feelings for a given place, usually it can be difficult to change environments. That’s why I’ve lived in the same house my entire life. Until I was 5, I had lived with my two older brothers. When they moved out, my family community was smaller, but just the same. It did however make things easier to have everything to myself.
My Community’s Expectations
Because I’m part of this family community, I am responsible for doing chores, and helping around the house in order to do my part. To ensure that the community will always stay strong, I need to have a good education and do all of my homework. The relationship between the family members is also a very important aspect, as a separated family cannot function as a community.
We Are Comfortable

Jean de Crevecoeur
Jean de Crevecoeur saw America in the
late 1700s similarly to how we see it today. He saw a land that welcomed
people of all races, cultures, and religious beliefs. While it stays true that
America is hospitable in many of these ways today, we now truly allow people to live in their own religious beliefs by tolerating the public practice of
their belief. Previously, the ability to practice your religion was tolerated
with the expectation that everyone would believe in the Bible and in Jesus. Despite
the fact that this rule could have easily been disregarded, today’s America stands
as a more tolerant America. Regardless of people’s opinions, everyone in
today’s America has the right to their own religious beliefs.
